About Me

I'm Wendy and I'm 28. I was born and raised in Ecuador, and since I was a child, my parents have always tried to show me in every way possible that the world is both small and large at once. So I've studied in Seattle, dreamed in London, written in Dublin, taught in Ecuador, and found my motivations in Seoul before moving to NYC.

I've been a student theatre seamstress, a writer, an editor, an advisor, a teacher, and I've learned that what unites all of my experiences is the way in which I've become a storyteller through each in a different way.

I believe every single moment of our lives is part of a million different stories at once. These stories are inside us, around us, with us. My writing, be it fiction, poetry, or nonfiction is just me letting it all out, reaching out.

I'm saying, I'm here. I'm alive.

I'm asking, What about you?

"Every writer proceeds at their own pace, in their own way. Don’t worry if you are “ahead” or “behind” a writer friend, or feel down when someone else gets that agent or that big book deal. It took me four failed manuscripts and twelve years of practice before I wrote Legend. The only person you need to compare yourself to is you."
